Do you have a mechanic?

Tuesday, June 14th, 2011

When you are responsible for making sure everything in your house works, you always have to keep an eye out for things that could go wrong. While paying the bills and making sure there’s food on the table may be enough, you also have to be vigilant of all the things around the house. This means that if the lights go out, you’re the one who has to check out the fuse box and if there’s a leak in a pipe somewhere, you would have to get down and see what’s up. If you have a mechanic, it is always best to be prepared.

There are many things that could go wrong with the mechanic in your house. While some of these are fixable by anyone with rudimentary mechanic skills, some of these problems require a trained professional to look at. If you have a mechanic , it would be one of the following things.

A very common mechanic problem that people face is leaking pipes. There could be many reasons a pipe starts leaking and sometimes you wouldn’t even be aware of a leak until something is ruined. Leaks that appear in pipe bends and connectors normally just leak a very small amount of water over a long period of time. As most pipes are located inside walls or under the sink, places where people don’t look on a daily basis, it is pretty hard to spot such a leak. You would mostly notice water gathering somewhere in your house or pools of water at different places before you realize there is something wrong with the pipes. In this case, the water has probably already ruined some kitchen fitting or wallpaper before you can do anything about it.

While small leaks are hard to find, you really have a mechanic when a pipe bursts. This could lead to large amounts of water gushing from a broken pipe or fitting and flooding whole areas of your house. When this happens, it is most advisable to shut off the water from the mains and contact a mechanic immediately.

Another mechanic problem that many people encounter is blockage. Blockages can happen due to something that gets washed down a drain that is too big to pass all the way through it. In this case, either the drain or a certain pipe can get clogged. This will lead to water not passing through the pipes and either coming back up or forming a pool somewhere in the middle. This can lead to many problems as the whole mechanic system would fail to work as it is supposed to.

When you have a mechanic , you always tend to panic. This wouldn’t happen if you already had a mechanic on call or the number for a mechanic on hand. It is advisable to always make sure you have a local mechanic who is available 24 hours and can get to your place as soon as possible when you are faced with an emergency.
